Blaise is due to open in November 2023 - we will start taking referrals later this year
A referral partner that feels like an extension of your practice
Our hospital offers a multi-disciplinary referral service to patients in and around the West Midlands and beyond. Having all our services under one roof allows the sharing of knowledge, and easy access to advice from other teams.
Anaesthesia is commonly required in veterinary hospitals in order to facilitate the wide range of imaging, surgical and investigative procedures performed every day. Our specialist led anaesthesia & analgesia team provide support and guidance with every step from preparation, monitoring and recovery of patients from sedation or anaesthesia, as well as tailoring pain relief and post operative care when needed.
In order to provide the best care to each patient, the anaesthetic team utilise state of the art anaesthetic machines, multi-parameter monitors and anaesthetic-related techniques comparable with human theatres and we are continuously attending courses and scientific meetings specific to anaesthesia, to ensure we are up to date with the latest research.
Our Anaesthesia & Analgesia service is led by Jacques Ferreira.
Our specialist-led cardiology team offers a comprehensive range of cardiac investigations, for problems such as heart murmurs, cardiac arrhythmia, collapse/syncope/seizures, reduced exercise ability, cough and dyspnoea.
The effective use of a range of modalities is central to offering a comprehensive referral service. The Imaging team works alongside all clinicians to aid with clinical investigations, diagnosis, treatment and post-procedural care or our patients. All of which help us to offer the very best outcome possible.
In the centre of Blaise will sit the ICU, led by a specialist team of ECC clinicians and nurses.
The ECC team and their skillset complements the other specialist teams in the hospital, often bridging the gaps between surgery, anaesthesia and internal medicine, as well as giving clinical direction and support to the dedicated out-of-hours team
The service fulfils 2 main roles for the hospital; the ‘E’ - enabling rapid referral, assessment and stabilisation of acutely ill patients, and the ‘CC’ - taking charge of those critically ill patients in the ICU that need their specialist input. These will generally include those needing blood products, vasopressors or ventilatory support, as well as complex, dynamic cases with multiple organ pathologies, such as sepsis, polytrauma or multiple organ dysfunction.
The Internal Medicine Team is led by an Internal Medicine Specialist and together they accept referrals for a range of medical conditions. These include disorders of the gastrointestinal, respiratory, endocrine, haematological and urogenital systems, as well as more complicated cases that don’t fit neatly into any single category.
Interventional Radiology (IR) combines the expertise of specialists from a number of disciplines including Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging and Soft Tissue Surgery. It uses image guidance (fluoroscopy, ultrasound, endoscopy, or CT) to access areas of the body and deliver a treatment. The team treat conditions including: vascular, urophrenology, respiratory, gastrointestinal and cardiac.
Blaise is equipped to offer a comprehensive range of interventional and minimally invasive procedures with the following equipment:
Neurology covers disorders of the brain, spine and peripheral nerves. Commonly encountered conditions include neoplasia, inflammation (meningitis), seizure disorders, structural disorders (syringomyelia), trauma and intervertebral disc disease.
Blaise offers a comprehensive neurology and neurosurgery service supported by the latest diagnostic equipment.
We’re proud to introduce our world class team of orthopaedic consultants. Our clinicians are trusted to teach best practice to orthopaedic surgeons all over the world.
Developmental orthopaedic conditions including hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia and patellar luxation are very common in dogs and cats. Our team has published book chapters and papers on every one of these conditions, and they have over 60-years combined experience treating them in specialist practice.
The Soft Tissue Surgery team is specialist-led, offering a range of procedures using both traditional and minimally invasive techniques. The team work alongside a number of other services to ensure the very best outcome for soft tissue surgery patients.
The service is happy to see cases that require urogenital, airway, head and neck, thoracic and abdominal surgery as well as performing oncological and reconstructive surgery. In addition to traditional surgery, minimally invasive thoracoscopic and laparoscopic procedures will also be offered with a state of the art 4K resolution imaging tower.
Our ethos is that Blaise is built on partnerships. All our clinical work is undertaken in collaboration with the primary care vet. We welcome Vets and Nurses to visit and spend time following a case through our hospital so that you can see how we work, and see the quality of care that we give to each and every one of your patients.
