Internal Medicine

The Medicine team work closely with colleagues in surgery, neurology, ECC and oncology to offer a multidisciplinary approach.

Led by Internal Medicine Specialist Jennifer Raj, together they accept referrals for a range of medical conditions. These include disorders of the gastrointestinal, respiratory, endocrine, haematological and urogenital systems, as well as more complicated cases that don’t fit neatly into any single category.

Our team has the full range of expertise and facilities to diagnose and treat patients. Typical conditions we see include, but are not limited to:

  • Gastrointestinal diseases including vomiting and diarrhoea
  • Endocrine diseases including hyper- and hypo-adrenocorticism and diabetes
  • Immune-mediated diseases including anaemia, thrombocytopenia and polyarthritis
  • Infectious diseases including both endemic (e.g. leptospirosis) and exotic (e.g. leishmaniasis) infections
  • Liver disease including the investigation of elevated liver enzyme activities and diagnosing portosystemic shunts
  • Both acute and chronic kidney disease and urinary tract disease, including urolithiasis, urinary incontinence and urinary tract infections
  • Respiratory disease including dyspnoea, tachypnoea and chronic coughing

The Medicine team are happy to see all types of medicine cases and work-ups for pyrexia of unknown origin, polydipsia/polyuria, weight loss, lethargy, hypercalcaemia, anaemia and more.
