Lara Baptista DVM, MSci, DipECVIM-CA MRCVS Referral Clinician in Internal Medicine

Lara graduated from the University of Lisbon in 2015.

After graduating, Lara spent a year in first opinion, before moving into referrals, and worked in private referral centres, and academia for a number of years. She completed both a rotating and a medicine internship and completed her ECVIM Residency in 2022.

She has presented at the ACVIM Forum in June 2022, Small Animal Medicine Society autumn congress in 2021 and at BSAVA in 2019.

In the future, Lara is keen to pursue further training in interventional medicine.

Lara’s clinical interests are haematology, immune-related diseases and gastronenterology.

Lara says,My main satisfaction as a medic comes from the moment when I discharge a patient that came in very unwell and has recovered. Getting to be a part of that reunion with the family, that moment makes it all worth it.”

In her spare time, Lara enjoys longs walks in the country, saying that “it is the best way to disconnect, recharge and relax.” Lara also enjoys baking, visiting the gym and reading, and although she has no pets at the moment, would love a house full of cats and a dachshund.
